Nation Pays Tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on 119th Birth Anniversary
India is celebrating the 119th birth anniversary of the great revolutionary Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh today. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with many other leaders and fellow citizens, paid heartfelt tributes to Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907, in Banga village in Lyallpur district, Punjab (now in Pakistan). His supreme sacrifice for the nation at the age of 23 remains a great source of inspiration for India’s youth even today. PM Modi paid tribute to Bhagat Singh Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Bhagat Singh by sharing a video message on social media. PM Modi said that the immortal martyr Bhagat Singh was filled with fearlessness and his indomitable courage is a source of inspiration for every Indian, especially the youth. He also mentioned the letter Bhagat Singh wrote to the British before his execution, in which he requested to be shot instead of being hanged, considering himself a prisoner of war. Congress Leaders paid tribute to Bhagat Singh Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paid tribute to Bhagat Singh. Remembering Bhagat Singh, he wrote on his Twitter handle, “We pay homage to the great revolutionary, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, on his birth anniversary. His struggle, indomitable courage, and supreme sacrifice for India’s independence will always be a source of inspiration for all of us.” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tribute to Bhagat Singh by sharing his famous lines, “I am writing the end of this… tomorrow will bring the beginning… every drop of my blood… will bring revolution…” Kharge said that Bhagat Singh not only fought against British rule but also raised his voice against social inequality through his pen and thoughts. Lok Sabha Speaker also paid tribute to Bhagat Singh Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute to Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. Describing Bhagat Singh as a symbol of revolution and patriotism, he said that his struggle was not limited to liberation from foreign rule, but rather he envisioned an India free of exploitation and social discrimination. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great revolutionary Bhagat Singh, a state-level cultural event called “Jashn-e-Inquilab” was organized at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Additionally, people are visiting his native village, Khatkar Kalan, to pay their respects.
