The streets of Pune are currently resembling Jantar Mantar. Today, September 7, 2026, MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) candidates and youth are protesting against the administration. The main reasons for the Gen-Z protests in Pune are the irregularities in the examination system, paper leaks, and the neglect of student interests. As a result, students are taking to the streets and demonstrating vigorously, confronting the administration with their demands. They are demanding not only a fair conduct of the examination but also the resignation of the chairman. These are the main reasons for the protest The primary reason for the students’ anger in this movement is the frequent changes in the examination pattern, alleged irregularities, scams, and the massive reduction in seats. Angered by these irregularities, the competitive students are demanding that the entire recruitment process be conducted in a completely transparent and fair manner. They are also demanding the resignation of the commission’s chairman, who is responsible for this chaos. Meanwhile, opposition leaders such as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, and MLA Aditya Thackeray’s HIV Sena (UBT) have extended their support to the movement. Protesting candidates say that alleged irregularities and scams in the government recruitment exam process have created discontent among candidates. They further stated that competitive exams are an important avenue for youth to obtain government jobs. Therefore, any irregularities in the exam directly impact the future of thousands of candidates. Candidates are demanding that the MPSC make the recruitment process more transparent. They say that candidates should receive clear and reliable information regarding exam decisions, results, and various stages of the recruitment process. They also demand an investigation into the alleged irregularities and fixing responsibility. In addition to the exam scam, local youth and citizens of Pune have also organized a large protest march on September 6th and 7th, 2026, against the deafening DJ music and loudspeakers during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival in the city. Youngsters and doctors living in Peth areas say that excessive noise is causing huge damage to the health of the elderly and students.
